Bubbles popped: 6
Alcorn State (1-5), SWAC
There's no potential wins left on the Alcorn State's schedule that would justify an at-large with six loses.
Mt. St. Mary's (1-4), Northeast
A loss to Seton Hall last night was their last chance at a quality win.
SE Louisana (2-6), Southland Conference
SE LA was actually winning at half-time at Gonzaga last night. No shame in the fact they ultimately lost, but they also lost their last chance at a resume building win.
South Carolina State (1-5), MEAC
Even an upset win at Texas Tech would not be enough for a six loss SCSU to garner at-large consideration.
Tennessee State (2-6), Ohio Valley
Seven loses would be too many given their complete lack of anything resembling a quality win.
Wagner (2-4), Northeast
Wagner still has a chance at a decent win at Cincinnati, but that wouldn't be enough given the rest of the their schedule.
Four results worth mentioning:
Indiana 81, Pittsburgh 69
The Hoosiers knocked off a short handed Pitt team last night for what should be their second quality win of the season. They'll need Pitt and SMU to win a few games for those wins to hold up come March, but in any event, rumors of Tom Crean's demise appear to have been greatly exaggerated.
Stephen F. Austin 64, Memphis 52
I don't know what worse for Memphis, losing at home to SFA, or the fact that it's not really that shocking of a loss. No disrespect to SFA, they're a quality team with NCAA Tournament aspirations, but this is a bad look for Memphis.
VCU 66, Illinois State 62
I don't know what compelled Shaka Smart to schedule a game at Illinois State, but he did. It's a lose/lose proposition for the Rams. Lose the game and people shake their heads, win and people still question it, "only four?" Make no mistake, this is an impressive win for VCU.
Miami 70, Illinois 61
It may be time to take the Hurricane's seriously as not just a top 5 team in the ACC, but as an ACC title contender. At 7-0 with two impressive wins, they've shown nothing to suggest otherwise.
