Bubbles Popped: none
Four results worth mentioning:
Winthrop 77, Clemson 74
Don't look for Winthrop to throw a parade for themselves after this win. It's an ACC road win and they'll gladly add it to their resume, but they expected this result. Most had Clemson picked around 11th in the ACC, that may be overly optimistic.
Miami 69, Florida 67
I have no idea what Florida was doing in the Top 10 of the AP Poll. They're a tournament team, and likely going to be between a 4-8 seed, but they had no business being ranked in the Top 10. That's not to down play Miami's accomplishment. Any time you can beat a tournament team in a true road environment, you've done something right. They'll need this as things could get ugly for them against the top half of the ACC.
Temple 82, Louisiana Tech 75
La. Tech figured to be an NCAA Tournament team this year. Temple, not so much. It's just one game, but the Owls have reason to be optimistic after last season's train wreck of a season. Conversely, La. Tech doesn't need to scrap the season just yet, they should be fine.
St. Mary's 83, New Mexico State 71
The Aggies are without question the best 0-2 team in the country. That's not a label they want to carry going forward. There's no shame in losing at Wichita State and St. Mary's, but NMSU was a team that expected to win one if not both. This win could be a nice little star on St. Mary's resume at the end of the year if NMSU plays as expected the rest of the way.
