Bubbles popped: 3
Brown (1-4), Ivy League
There's not enough meat left on the schedule for Brown to garner an at-large look. They better plan on winning the Ivy League regular season title.
Hampton (1-4), MEAC
The Pirates had their chances to score a nice non-con win or two, but came up short. They should contend for the MEAC title, if not be the out-right favorites to win it, but any hopes of an at-large are over.
Prairie View A&M (0-4), SWAC
I don't know when "Prairie View" started going by PV A&M, and I don't really care. They should win a few games in the SWAC, but 25 losses on the years sounds about right.
Four results worth mentioning:
Villanova 77, VCU 53
'Nova ran away from VCU in the second half to notch an impressive victory that should have some legs going forward. The had Wildcats looked a bit shaky so far this season, but this win should ease a lot of concerns. All is not lost for VCU who should still compete for a high seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Eastern Washington 88, Indiana 86
SMU loses at Indiana, Eastern Washington loses at SMU, so naturally Eastern Washington wins at Indiana. Eastern looks to be a very good basketball team, but Tom Crean's growing number of critics aren't going to care.
San Diego State 92, Brigham Young 87 2OT
This was huge win for SDSU and the Mountain West, as every opportunity for a non-conference win of any merit is huge if the league hopes to vie for multiple at-large bids. On the flip side, it's an equally disappointing lost opportunity for BYU and the WCC.
Marquette 62, New Jersey Tech 57
I think the honeymoon is over for Wojo at Marquette. Marquette certainly expected to take a step or two back after the loss of Buzz Williams, but these growing pains are far more than they had hoped for. Fortunately for Marquette, a win is a win, and if they right the ship in Big East play no one will recall a close call against NJ Tech in November.
