Bubbles Popped: None
Four results worth mentioning:
Charleston Sou. 66, Ole Miss 65
Not the kind start The Rebels were looking for to begin the 2014-15 campaign. Ole Miss plays a few other schools that harbor at-large hopes in the non-con, but none that are truly elite. They need to get through it with one or two loses. They'll have no bigger fans than Charleston Sou., who still have seemingly manageable trips to FSU, N.C. State, and Colorado State on their schedule.
Georgia Tech 80, Georgia 73
Neither one of these team harbor much ambition of competing in their respective conferences, but the Yellow Jackets at least get to carry and SEC win on their resume going forward.
U.Missouri Kansas City 69, Missouri 61
It was not a good opening night for the SEC. For conference that expects to battle the perception of the weakest "power" conference all season long, these are the kinds of results that set the tone for the entire season. UMKC plays six more road games to open the season. If they emerge 5-1 or better, they could very well be near the top of the RPI rankings. That will be a tall order however, and even a 3-3 start would bode very well for them.
Fair. Dickinson 58, St. Joseph's 57
Coming off a great season for both St. Joseph's and the Atlantic Ten as a whole, this result can't be viewed as anything other than a disappointment. FDU has been a solid program for decades, but trying winning that bar argument with "Joe Football," regarding the lack of disgrace in losing to the Knights.
